“The Rally Car Collection” launches in the UK.

After being available on the continent last year, “The Rally Car Collection” from publishers Deaugustini was launched on 4th January 2005.

Every two weeks, the magazine is issued, Issue 1 is £2.99 there after £6.99. For which you get a 18 page colour booklet, A4 in size, with the history of various rallies, rally cars and people, and each week you get a 1/43 scale diecast model rally car.

The Magazine – Issues 1-6 will be available in newsagents, every two weeks, there after it will be available to order from your newsagents. Or if you subscribe, via www.deagostini.co.uk or phone UK (+44) 0870 870 2594 You get various incentives, the main one of interest being an IXO Escort RS1800 from the Monte Carlo Rally, on a trailer , complete with Ford Transit service barge in rally livery.

The Models- These although branded Altaya, are produced by IXO. They are the good models, but the detail is less than a standard £23 model of the same car. For examples, the Richard Burns 206 WRC on issue 1, compared with the equivalent IXO: The tampo printed detail is less, its missing on the front grill, door mirrors, tyres, bonnet pins and seats. The interior is all black, with no spare wheel, it only has one roof aerial, instead of 4. The chassis, and exhaust are less detailed. As stated , the models are good models, but slightly lacking in detail.

The full list of models is on their web site, but issue 2 is a Impreza WRC 2003.

Ataya Rally Magazine models.

There are three different rally magazines available across Europe at present that come with a free 1/43 scale rally car model attached to the front cover. These models are cheaper versions of some current IXO models, but others are unique and not available anywhere(Eg BMW M3 Rally car). Most of these models are produced by IX0 despite them not bearing their markings.

The magazines are available on subscription from the various countries web sites, and are for varying amounts of time. They all come with a thin magazine, full of quality pictures and informative text.

The English version consists of 12 issues, known as the "Rally Car Collection",   available every two weeks by subscription, but the models are run of the mill WRC's.     The French version has a lot more rare models from the 1960's to the present day, . The Spanish version is the one to get, with many classics that have not been seen modelled in diecast before . If you subscribe to all the issues, you get an IXO Focus WRC in the livery of the Spanish Junior Rally Team, and this is rare !l

The publishers will not post the magazine to different countries, we have tried this !

If you are on your holidays have a look for the collection, or to pick up the models have a look at www.ebay.es   or www.ebay.fr and search for ALTAYA. The models can be picked up usually for about 20 Euro's,
